My name is Doug Forrester and since July of 2020, I have served as the District Superintendent of the Roanoke District of the United Methodist Church in Virginia. On July 1, 2021 I began serving as the District Superintendent of the Staunton District as well.
I am married to Tracy Forrester, a third-grade teacher at Herman L. Horn Elementary School in Vinton. Together we are the parents of Ellen and Claire. The four of us live with our owners, two cats named Oliver and The Great Catsby.
I was born in Richmond, Virginia and graduated from Emory & Henry College and Duke University Divinity School. I was ordained to ministry in the United Methodist Church in 1996. I have served congregations in Newport News, Prince George (VA), Crozet, and Richmond.
In the past, I have been a part of the faculty of the Virginia Conference Licensing School and I was the leader of the team that created the Virginia Clergy Leadership Program. I am the former coordinator of the Virginia Conference Calling 21 internship program and have been a workshop leader at numerous gatherings for new clergy in the provisional process towards ordination. When I am not working, I like to compose and record music.
